Paving Updates

July 12, 2023

The Town’s paving contractor, EJ Paving, will be paving the top final course on Thursday July 13, 2023, on Astle Street and Lumber Lane. There will be traffic control officers on site. Residents, abutters and emergency vehicles will have full access but should be prepared for some minor delays.  

May 26, 2023

The Town’s paving contractor, EJ Paving, will be paving the top final course on Tuesday, May 30, and Wednesday, May 31, on the following roads: 

Tuesday:

  • Parker Ave
  • Laurence Street 
  • Green Street 
  • St Marys Road 
  • Vernon Street
  • Water Street

Wednesday:

  • Bay State Road
  • Temple Street
  • Willow Street
  • Mystic Ave
  • Bond Street 
  • Bow Street 

There will be traffic control officers on site and residents, abutters, school busses and emergency vehicles will have full access but should be prepared some minor delays.

May 23, 2023

On 5/24, the Town's contractor, EJ Paving, will be paving the top course of asphalt pavement on the following roads: 

  • Jay Street
  • Crescent Street
  • School Street
  • Bell Road
  • Cottage Road
  • Kane Court

There will be traffic control officers on site and residents, abutters, school busses and emergency vehicles will have full access but should be prepared for some minor delays. 

May 18, 2023

In preparation of final paving, starting today, May 18, 2023, and continuing over the next week, the Town’s contractor, EJ Paving, and their subcontractor will be replacing all the manhole and catch basin castings on all the streets that will be paved. 

May 11, 2023

The Town’s contractor is milling out the pavement in preparation for paving on Astle Street (French Street to the Lowell Line) and then will finish up on Jay Street and Crescent Street later this afternoon. All the milling in town is estimated to be completed by the end of the day.

May 5, 2023

In preparation for new asphalt pavement, the Town’s Contractor, EJ Paving, will be milling out the existing pavement starting on Monday May 8, 2023. Work is expected to last the entire week, and will occur on the following roads:

ARNOLD ROAD, BAY STATE ROAD, BOND STREET, BOW STREET, DOWNING ROAD, DUDLEY ROAD, GREEN STREET, LAKE STREET, LAKEVIEW AVENUE, LAWRENCE STREET, MYSTIC AVENUE, PARKER AVENUE, ST. MARY’S ROAD, VERNON STREET, WARREN ROAD, WATER STREET, WIGHTMAN ROAD, WILLOW STREET  (Please see map for exact locations on each road).

There will be traffic control officers on site and residents, abutters, school buses and emergency vehicles will have access.  

May 1, 2023

The Town’s Contractor, EJ Paving, will be applying the base course of pavement on Monday, May 1, 2023, on Pike Street (weather permitting). There will be a detour in place but abutters, school buses and emergency vehicles will have access. Click here to view the detour map. 

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, EJ Paving will be applying the base course of pavement on Lumber Lane, Cottage Street, Bell Road, and Kane court (weather permitting). There will be traffic control officers on site and abutters, school buses and emergency vehicles will have access.

April 26, 2023

Pike Street will be closed to traffic on Thursday April 27, 2023, and possibly Friday April 28, 2023, for roadway resurfacing. A detour will be in place, but the road will remain open to abutters, school buses and emergency response vehicles as needed. Click here to view the detour map.

April 25, 2023

The Town’s Contractor, EJ Paving, will begin work for roadway resurfacing this week (weather permitting). The following is a schedule for the work at various locations and dates: 

4/25/2023 – Manhole and catch basin castings lowered on Temple Street, Bell Road, Cottage Street, Kane Court, Lumber Lane, and Pike Street

4/26/2023 – Asphalt reclaim on Temple Street, Bell Road , Cottage Road, Kane Court, and Lumber Lane

4/27/2023 & 4/28/2023 – Asphalt reclaim on Pike Street and Lumber Lane

February 1, 2023

The Town will begin its Annual Paving Program in the Spring of 2023. Below you will find a PDF of the list of roadways to be resurfaced and the planned treatment, along with locus maps. 


November 8, 2022

Paving has been completed on Old Boston Road and Astle Street. The Town’s contractor plans to pave Livingston Street and East Street tomorrow, 11/9/2022, and North Street on Thursday, 11/10/2022. Paving work will be conducted from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Days and times of work is subject to change due to weather. Detours maps can be found in the November 7th update.

November 7, 2022

Newport will be paving various roads in Town this week. On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, they plan to pave Astle Street and Old Boston Road. On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, they plan to pave Livingston Street and East Street. Paving work will be conducted from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Days and times of work is subject to change due to weather. Detours maps for each road can be found below.

October 27, 2022

The Town of Tewksbury will start paving projects on Astle Street, Old Boston Road, North Street, East Street and Livingston Street on October 31, 2022. Residents should seek alternate routes over the next two weeks to avoid road closures in these areas. Check the Town's Roadway Resurfacing page under the D.P.W section of the website for project updates. Residents may also call our office at 1-978-640-4440 with questions. October 11, 2022

The Town’s contractor, EJ Paving, will complete the top coat of pavement Thursday 10/13 on Livingston Street from Main Street to Wildwood Street (weather permitting) . There will be a detour set up for all through traffic, however, the area will be open to abutters and businesses. Traffic Control Officers will be present to direct traffic for the duration of the work, but delays are likely. We ask travelers to give themselves extra time and thank you in advance for your patience during the work.

October 6, 2022

The Town’s contractor will begin roadway microsurfacing on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 (weather permitting). Microsurfacing is a protective seal coat which extends the life of pavement. It is a thin, tough layer of asphalt emulsion blended with finely crushed stone for traction.

The following roads will be microsurfaced:

  • South Elizabeth Street
  • South Rhoda Street
  • South Amos Street
  • Charm Road
  • Strang Street
  • Patricia Road

Please be advised that roads will have limited access during this time and residents are advised to park all vehicles off the roadway to allow for access by work crews and equipment. Traffic Control Officers will be present to direct traffic for the duration of the work.

The Town's paving contractor, EJ Paving, is completing the top course of pavement on Royal Crest Circle today. 

September 21, 2022

The Town’s contractor, Indus, is currently working throughout the town performing crack sealing on the various roads. This is part of the Town of Tewksbury’s overall pavement management program. September 19, 2022 Update

September 8, 2022 Update

The Town’s Contractor, EJ Paving, will be paving the top coat of pavement on Cayuga Road and Royal Crest Circle on Friday, September 9, 2022.  Please be advised that roads will have limited access during this time and residents are advised to park all vehicles off of the roadway to allow for access by roadway paving crews and equipment.  Paving is anticipated to begin at approximately 11:30AM on Cayuga Road and will proceed to Royal Crest Circle once completed.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Andrew Stack at astack@tewksbury-ma.gov or by calling (978) 640-4440, ext. 256.

August 31, 2022 Update

The Town’s coPaving Update 8312022ntractor, EJ Paving, will begin paving the asphalt berm (curbing) on Royal Crest Circle and Cayuga Road on Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Residents are advised to park vehicles off of the roadway during work hours (typically 7:00AM to 4:30PM) to allow for access to the roadway edge by paving crews and equipment.  The work is anticipated to begin on Royal Crest Circle approximately mid-morning and will proceed to Cayuga Road once completed.  Asphalt berm paving work may extend into Friday, September 2, 2022, if needed.  The final roadway surface is to be paved at a later date (to be determined).

August 25, 2022 Update

The Town’s contractor, EJ Paving, will be applying the top final layer of pavement on Old Main Street near Wamesit Island. The work will begin this afternoon and should be completed by the end of the day.

The Town’s Contractor, EJ Paving, will be paving the topcoat of pavement on the following roads: Oxford Street, Miles Road and sections of Starr Road and Old Main Street, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, and Thursday July 28, 2022 (Weather Permitting). Please be advised that roads will have limited access during this time, but traffic control officers will be there to assist if needed. July 11, 2022 Update

The Town of Tewksbury’s contractor, EJ Paving, will begin the process of roadway paving on July 11, 2022 (weather permitting). Work hours  will typically be between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Please be advised that roads will have limited access during this time. The entire project will take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete. If you have any sprinkler heads near the roadway please mark out clearly, so that work crews can avoid causing damage.
