South Tewksbury Phase 3 Water Main Improvement Project

Project Description

The work involves the following major item(s): Installation of approximately 7,300 linear feet of 8” and 6” ductile iron water main, approximately 1,700 linear feet of HDPE water service piping, fittings, fire hydrants, ductile iron gate valves, temporary water main bypass and other related water system work on Benson Road, South Street, State Street, Lenox Street, Hoover Road, Oak Street, Trudeau Lane, South Cross Street, Ash Street, and Whelan Road. Additional work includes approximately temporary and permanent trench paving of approximately 9,000 linear feet, and all other related work as specified.

Anticipated Construction Dates

Construction work is anticipated to begin approximately April 1, 2026 and be completed by early September 2026.  Trench resurfacing is anticipated to occur in Fall 2026.

Typical Work Hours

Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM excluding holidays.

Roadway Closure/Detour Information

Road closures and detours may be needed in some areas due to narrow roadway widths in some parts of the project area.  These roadway closures and detours would be during construction hours only and will be communicated to affected residents once dates and locations of detours are determined.  There will be police details on site during construction. Delays should be expected, and motorists are advised to plan ahead for these delays and avoid the area if possible.
