Water or Sewer bill Frequency & Calculation

Currently, water and/or sewer bills are issued three times per year approximately around April, August, and December.

Rates are established based on a tiered structure. For example, if your usage is 20,000 gallons for the December-March billing period, you will be charged 12,000 gallons based on the first tier rate and 8,000 gallons based on the second tier rate. For each subsequent billing period, your water / sewer usage will be charged beginning in the first tier.

Your water and / or sewer bill is calculated on actual water usage and billed on the following basis:

Disclaimers

  • The information above is solely provided for bill estimation purposes only and it does not take into account any outstanding balances. In addition, not all residents are on Sewer and this calculation does not include Secondary Water Metering.
  • If the property is connected to the Town sewer and is not located in the Town of Tewksbury or is tax-exempt, the sewer rates above do not apply; a higher rate applies. (In the Special Town Meeting held on May 4, 2011, the Townspeople voted to authorize the Board of Selectman to submit a Home Rule Petition to the General Court of Massachusetts to enact a special act which would allow the Town to shift 50% of the sewer debt to the tax levy. Given that properties not located in Tewksbury and tax-exempt properties would not be impacted by the 50% shift, the higher rate is calculated using the cost to operate the sewer enterprise with 100% of the debt.)
