Clerks Charged for Selling Alcohol to a Minor


On September 8, 2017 the Tewksbury Police Department conducted an undercover operation to check on the compliance of establishments serving alcohol to people under the age of 21.  Recently the Tewksbury Police Department received a grant to conduct underage alcohol enforcement.  

On January 9, 2017 the Tewksbury Police Department put all licensed alcohol establishments on notice that enforcement operations would be taking place.

During the operation, a 19 year old was sent into 12 Tewksbury package stores and restaurants without identification to check on their level of compliance.  There were 2 violators who did not ask the 19 year old for identification.  The following establishments were found in violation; Crystals General Store (1120 Main St.) and Tewksbury Convenient Mart (160 Shawsheen St.)

The following establishments were in compliance and asked the 19 year old for proper identification; Smitty’s Liquors (1091 Main St.), Andy’s Convenience Store (420 Woburn St.), Stadium Liquors (10 Main St.), Oakdale Liquors (1900 Main St.) and Chopsticks (910 Andover St.), Longhorn Steak House (1910 Andover St.), 99 Restaurant’s (401 Main St.), Jade East Restaurant (433 Main St.), Wamesit Lanes (434 Main St.) and The Sky Box Restaurant & Sports Bar (553 Main St. #9). 

The two clerks at the package stores are being charged with selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21.

This information is being forwarded to the Town of Tewksbury Board of Selectmen.
