Meet the hardworking volunteers of the Tewksbury Recycling Committee! Each person brings something different to the table and each time we get a new member, the creative energy starts to flow again, so drop in at one of our meetings (see About Us) and bring some ideas with you. You can also contact one of the members using the information provided below and we’ll do our best to answer your questions!

 Loretta Ryan, Chairperson |
Loretta has been a Tewksbury resident since 2003 and joined the TRC just months after moving into town. Married, with 3 school-aged children, she is very involved in volunteering in the school system. Loretta is most interested in finding ways to educate the children and staff in the school system on ways to recycle. "The true way to a better future is through our children."

 Sean Czarniecki
Sean has been a Tewksbury resident since 1998 and joined the TRC in the Fall of 2002. A chemical engineer working for an environmental consulting/engineering firm, this committee was right up his alley. Sean's reason for joining the TRC (and primary focus since that time) has been to control tax increases related to the solid waste portion of the town's budget. He was initially given the name "the Numbers Guy" due to his acquisition and organization of much of the available data related to this area. He now attempts to pass on this information to everyone in order to provide a better understanding of the system and hopefully remove barriers limiting the reduction of solid waste costs.

 Jae Gray, Clerk |
Member since 1991. Jae provides all-around support wherever and whenever it is needed. She considers herself a compulsive helper, so if you ask her about anything, she’ll do her best to find an answer.
Jae’s recycling efforts began during World War II when so many things were rationed or not available because they were needed for the “war effort.” At the same time, it seemed that everyone knew and recited the following poem:
“Use it up. Wear it out. Make it do, or do without.”
As a teenager, Jae heard many adults saying that she would eventually realize that she can’t save the world. She’s still trying to prove them wrong. For that reason, Jae is a member of several environmental groups, saving the world one step at a time, one piece at a time.

Member since TRC initiated. Former assistant to the Town Manager. Current member of regional recycling committee.

Member since 2008. Kristin is an avid recycler and is currently focusing on electronics recycling .

Member since 2009. Pam has been looking into options for polystyrene recycling.

 Joe SmeraldiMember since 2010. Joe is focused on reducing pollution at point of consumption. "Consumers can solve most of our environmental problems by avoiding
products that have a negative impact on our community when alternative products are available. Pollution starts at the point of consumption, and the checkout counter is where we can have the strongest positive impact."
